A comfortable gaming chair and a large desk are the most important pieces of furniture in any gaming room.
Designing a room for a teenager who is also an avid gamer is a challenge. It’s not always possible to separate the gaming area from the study and sleeping areas. That’s why furniture for teenagers—especially the desk—must serve several functions at once.
An attic room is the perfect space for setting up a gaming room. The dimmer lighting that’s often found in attics, combined with the separation of this area from the living space on the ground floor, creates the ideal conditions for gaming.
When setting up a gaming room, it’s important not to forget to choose the right furniture for teens that offers storage space. After all, there has to be somewhere to store controllers, a console, game collections, and other teen accessories.
When planning the lighting for a gaming room, it’s best to opt for several lamps placed at different points in the room. LED light strips installed in strategic locations—such as behind the monitor, along the desk’s edge, and near other pieces of furniture—are also a great solution.
What do you need for a gaming studio?
A desk and a comfortable gaming chair – These are absolutely the most important pieces of furniture in any gamer’s room. How does a gaming desk differ from a regular desk? First and foremost, it should be the right size. It can’t be too narrow or too shallow. The desk simply has to accommodate all the gaming equipment, including a computer (often a desktop), a mouse, speakers, a keyboard (often a large one), and one, two, or even three monitors. The set is often complemented by pads and a console. In addition, all of these devices have cables that need to be routed properly so they don’t get tangled underfoot or interfere with the day-to-day use of the gaming corner in your gaming room. Features such as cable management holes, special cable covers, and cable organizers can help with this. Desks with a pull-out keyboard tray or gaming desks with a shelf above the desktop for monitors are great solutions. Corner desks and desks with adjustable tabletop angles are also worth considering, as they can be very practical during long gaming sessions. Let’s also remember that a gaming desk for a teenager must also serve as a desk for studying and doing homework. So there needs to be enough space to comfortably lay out notebooks and books.
In addition to the desk itself, the way a gaming desk is positioned in a teenager’s room is also important. It should be placed near a window to ensure that natural light reaches the desk surface while studying. However, it’s best not to position the desk in the gamer’s room so that the window is behind the person sitting at it. This arrangement blocks natural light and causes glare on the monitor, which reduces gaming comfort.
And most importantly—the desk must be adjusted to the user’s height to ensure proper posture. Does that mean we should replace the desk in a teenager’s room every few years? Not necessarily. You can opt for a desk with an adjustable-height top or adjust your posture using a gaming chair and a footrest.
And what should the ideal one be like? gaming chair? It’s definitely not worth skimping on this. Only a high-quality gaming chair will ensure a gamer’s comfort during gameplay (which often involves sessions lasting many hours) and guarantee optimal relief for the spine and overall proper posture. When choosing a gaming chair, look for a properly contoured backrest and seat, as well as a sturdy frame. A good gaming chair should also allow you to adjust the seat height and armrests, as well as the backrest angle. It’s also worth paying attention to the proper contouring of the headrest. Some chairs even come with massage and heating features! A gaming chair should also be easy to keep clean, especially since avid gamers often spend long hours in front of the monitor.
What accessories should I get for my gaming room?
When playing games, players are transported to a virtual world—often a fantasy one—that they love. What if you could be transported to that alternative world the moment you walked into a gaming room? Yes, Decorating a gamer’s room in the style of their favorite game is a great idea! Wall decals featuring your favorite characters, curtains with game-themed prints, and artwork depicting maps of virtual worlds can help you decorate. Personalized posters featuring a player’s name or nickname are becoming increasingly popular. You can frame them in minimalist frames or anti-frames and hang them on the walls of your gaming room. Wallpapers featuring game characters are also available in stores, but we don’t recommend this option. If a gamer’s tastes change, a sticker or poster can be easily replaced, which isn’t as simple with wallpaper. An important element of a gaming room’s decor is figurines depicting characters from favorite games. They look great displayed on a shelf or bookcase, especially one with LED lighting.
Special gaming furniture can also help when designing a gaming room. And we’re not just talking about a desk or a gaming chair here, but, for example, specially styled beds for gaming rooms with a side shaped like a Viking ship or a car. Lighting is also important in a gaming room. Instead of a single main ceiling light, it’s better to consider several light sources. Two or three floor lamps or wall-mounted lamps will help illuminate strategic areas. They’ll also work perfectly LED light strips that provide soft lighting. However, the most important accessories in a gaming room are blackout blinds and curtains. They must be thick enough to effectively block sunlight from reaching the screen.
Gaming Room in the Attic
Avid gamers often set up their gaming command centers in parts of the house that offer peace, comfort, and some isolation from the rest of the home. This allows other household members to sleep soundly, even when gaming sessions run late into the night. One of the ideal spaces for a gamer is the attic, especially when it’s a large, open space that can be arranged however you like. But also in a small room You can set up a comfortable gaming corner in the attic. Keep in mind, however, that the room must also include the other furniture for a teenager, including a wardrobe and a dresser, cabinets and bookshelves for books and school supplies, and a bed for the gaming room. When planning Gamer’s Corner In an attic room, it’s a good idea to take advantage of the differences in height when choosing the right furniture for teenagers. Against high walls, it’s best to place a closet, a tall bookcase, a desk, or a bed for a gaming room. The lower walls under the sloped ceilings are best used for storage in low cabinets—for example, to store boxes containing a game collection or to house equipment such as speakers.
Attic rooms have one major advantage for gamers—they aren’t very well lit. What some might see as a major drawback can actually be a unique advantage for gamers, since sunlight doesn’t shine directly onto the monitor screen. For safety, it’s a good idea to equip the windows in the attic room with blackout blinds. We also recommend ensuring that light sources are well-planned so they don’t strain tired eyes. The best solution is LED strip lighting that can be attached behind the monitor, under the desk, or under the tops of other pieces of furniture—in such a way that the light doesn’t glare into your eyes.
A gaming room is a sanctuary for every lover of games and alternative worlds. Whether an adult or a teenager, a gamer needs to feel at ease, comfortable, and at home in it—so that even gaming sessions lasting many hours can take place in the best possible atmosphere!
